Tip 3) Layer your planting beds in 3 rows. Start the back row with your tallest plants, preferably facing north. The middle row shows consist of the next tallest, and the front row will house the shortest plants. Continuity is a good thing when planting a flower bed.

Tip 4) Plant small trees and bushes that thrive in the winter as well as the summer. When your flowers are hiding from the snow and cold, your evergreens and conifers will stand tall and proud. Lawn ornaments, statues and water features are another great decorative feature.

Tip 5) Take care of your lawn. Whether your yard requires low maintenance or high maintenance, you get what you signed up for. Be prepared to give your lawn the time and attention is needs.
