Have you looked in a mirror lately - I mean have you really looked? Do you see yourself or are you too used to looking in the mirror that you only see faults? Do you like what you see? Do you see your family?

What do you see when you look in the mirror?  That is the question Los Angeles-based photographer Juan Louis Garcia asked Daniel DiCriscio when he posed for Garcia's latest portait series, Face Value: Mirror Portraits.

Mirror, Mirror, On The Wall...

A "mirror portrait" is a photo of someone looking at themselves through a two-way mirror.  The photo is then flipped to reveal their reflection so we can see them as they see themselves.  Garcia's goal is to photograph 500 portraits for this project, from Los Angeles to New York.

DiCriscio, who was asked by Garcia to be a celebrity "Face" for his series, joins other luminaries who have lent their time to the project, such as Def Jam founder Russell Simmons and KISS frontman Gene Simmons.

Garcia's photo session with DiCriscio included a personal interview, including questions on; Religion, plastic surgery, aging in Hollywood, his career, best and worst features, and what he sees when he looks at himself in the mirror, among others.

Garcia recorded DiCriscio's answers, for behind the scenes footage on the project, and as quotes to go along with the portraits for the final presentation of the series, which will be used for a book and gallery show.

Look for the book and gallery show when the project is completed.
