MUSIC WITH A MISSION: Local Bands Battle to Benefit Chronically and Terminally Ill Children

July 9, 2012 - PRLog -- On Thursday, July 19th four of New York's hottest local bands will vie for the title of ArtWorks Battle of the Bands Champions. The fundraiser will take place from 8:00pm to 11:00pm at The National Underground in the Lower East Side. The money raised by this event will help support ArtWorks, The Naomi Cohain Foundation in its continuing mission to provide children suffering from chronic and life-threatening illnesses, and their siblings, access to creative and performing arts programs.

The contenders are Night Fevers, Die Pretty, Lachi and Meridian Gold, and The New Velvet, and they each bring a unique sound to the competition. Each band will perform for an esteemed panel of celebrity judges including Michael Musto from The Village Voice, Roger Gold from Warner Music Group, James Forrestel from Guvera USA, and Maria Milito from Q104.3.

Several local businesses are participating and have generously donated items for prizes and raffles including: The National Underground, The Cutting Room Studio, The Great Frog, Canal Room, Guvera USA, and Sam Ash Music Stores.

“We are so excited to bring up and coming talent to the forefront, and at the same time raise awareness for our organization,” said ArtWorks Executive Director, Daniela Mendelsohn. “ArtWorks celebrates the creative spirit and at the Battle of the Bands that is exactly what we will be doing.”
