Nebraska Passport stop closes - Mitchell stop becomes a free stamp for all participants

July 9, 2012 - PRLog -- One of the stops on the 2012 Nebraska Passport program has closed.

The Prairie Vine Winery in Mitchell has closed for economic reasons and is no longer a part of the program.

The Passport program, created by the Department of Economic Development's Travel and Tourism Division, encourages travelers to explore Nebraska and take home great prizes. It now includes 79 stops organized into 10 special interest tours: culinary, culture, family fun, festivals, golf, GROW Nebraska, parks, unique accommodations, water adventure and wineries.

Tourists can pick up a souvenir passport at participating locations and collect stamps from each location visited to win prizes. If visitors complete an interest tour, they get a Passport T-shirt.

Participants working on the Winery Tour need only visit the seven remaining wineries: Silver Hills Vineyards & Winery, SchillingBridge Winery & Microbrewery, Whiskey Run Creek Vineyard & Winery, Mac’s Creek Winery & Vineyards, Sage Hill Vineyard & Winery and  Superior Estates Winery.

If participants collect 25 stamps, they get a $25 GROW Nebraska gift card; and if participants get 40 stamps, they receive a Canon Powershot digital camera. All participants submitting a prize-entry sheet will receive credit for the Prairie Vine stamp.

A grand-prize drawing for an Apple iPad will be held in October.
