Vintage Seekers' Presents their Collection of Marilyn Monroe Memorabilia

July 27, 2012 - PRLog -- 2012 marks 50 years since the untimely death of one of Hollywood’s brightest stars. Vintage Seekers takes this moment to present a collection of authentic and unique Marilyn Monroe memorabilia providing an apt way to commemorate the icon and her illustrious career. A highlight of this collection is a very rare 1956 Signed Photograph of Marilyn Monroe by Cecil Beaton, a beautiful half-length, black and white image of Monroe taken by the legendary photographer. The image was a favourite of Monroe’s as it presented her not as the girlish buxom blonde, which the public was used to seeing. Rather Beaton chose to illustrate her as the sexy, sophisticated actress she was. Taken at the height of her career, this photograph provides a unique opportunity to understand how Marilyn saw herself and not just the public perception of her celebrity.

Amongst others, Vintage Seekers’ also presents a 1957 Marilyn Monroe Autographed Cheque - this rare piece of memorabilia is framed and mounted and in very good condition. It includes a cheque, signed by Monroe, made payable to Sutton Wine & Liquor, Inc for $8.81 and dated September 15, 1957, a mounted and framed colour photograph and a small sequined lip pin.

Items also include an authentic and original 1959 Some Like It Hot US Release Film Poster, Advertising the classic comedy in which Monroe starred. This poster and the film itself illustrated Monroe’s propensity to be cast as the “dumb blonde”, rather betraying her acting abilities. Nevertheless this film in particular enabled Monroe to showcase her amazing comedic talent and it is one of her most famous performances.
