Let’s start in the kitchen. We all know that it is a necessity for the kitchen to stay clean. It’s where our food comes from after all. A clean, healthy kitchen makes for a happier dining experience. You need to pick a day when you will dedicate 1 hour to cleaning up the mess.

Start with 3 boxes and label them “Put away”, “Sell/Donate” and “Trash”.  It’s simple enough. Go through each cupboard and counter and sort accordingly. If you haven’t used the item in over a year and it is not a seasonal accessory, trash it. If you’ve used it in the last month, keep it.  If it is a canned or non-perishable item that has been sitting for a year donate it. While the items are boxed, wipe down those counters and clean up those crumbs.
Then, take the seasonal items and put them in a special place together. Put away the monthly accessories next and the important daily accessories last - exactly where you found them. Don’t quit in the middle, you’ll feel good when the job is done. Take those extra 5 minutes every day to utilize the new space that you made and keep that kitchen clean and organized.
