Hyderabad, August,15, 2012: Suchitra Academy, Hyderabad celebrated India’s Independence Day on 15th August,12. Sri Krishnam Raju, a well-known industrialist was the chief guest and the guest of honour was     Dr. Padmavati Shastri, an eminent social worker and an active participant of Indian’s freedom struggle.
The chief guest were given a guard of honour by the students and impressed everyone with their march past.
The school children put up and impressive cultural show, the highlight of which was the skit ‘Aman Ki Asha’ conveying the message of love, peace and brotherhood. An Independence Day quiz was also conducted for the parents.
Sir Krishnam Raju stressed that, though India has gained freedom from the British we still need to break free from the shackles of corruption and terrorism.
Dr. Padmavati Shastri, a veteran of 91 years recounted some amusing and interesting anecdotes of her years as a freedom fighter. She spoke about the high motivation levels of the youth then and about their hunger for freedom. She said that the youth and the freedom fighters had to make many sacrifices and undergo a lot of hardships but it was all for a worthy cause.
It was a wonderful program which motivated and inspired one and all.
