GARDENA, CALIFORNIA 90247-3778 (310) 217-6537 swww.ci.gardena.ca.us or www.gardenajazzfestival.com FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE The City of Gardena announces that their 10th Annual Gardena Jazz Festival has been scheduled for Sunday, August 26, 2012, beginning at 11:30 a.m. at Rowley Memorial Park, 13220 South Van Ness Avenue, Gardena 90249. The event attracts thousands of people from all over the southland and offers an afternoon full of world renowned jazz music for the entire family. Eric Darius, often recognized as one of the nation’s leading saxophonists will be headlining this amazing event. Jessy J, another energetic saxophonist is also on the lineup as well as the incomparable sounds of the all female band, JaZz in P!nk, featuring Gail Jhonson and Karen Briggs and the amazing group DW3 as well as others artists. Returning to emcee the event this year is 94.7 the Wave’s, Pat Prescott. The City of Gardena Jazz Festival was founded in 2003 by then City of Gardena Councilman, Steven Bradford. He was interested in bringing the cultural genre of jazz to the City by providing a free event, hosted by sponsors and volunteers. The event quickly became one of Southern California’s premier events, attracting over 5,000 jazz lovers the first year and blossoming into 10,000 by year four. The event became so well attended that the City of Gardena had to begin limiting the number of attendees to make the event comfortable for all. At a nominal cost of just $10 per person now, the City of Gardena has made the Jazz Festival a yearly destination for all residents and friends. Even though our Councilman Steve Bradford has moved on to represent the City of Gardena as our California State Assemblyman now, he continues to lead the volunteer committee in helping to design our festival and ensure that the event remains successful. Assemblyman Bradford serves as the spokesperson of the City of Gardena Jazz Festival, raising funds to make sure that it is a self-supporting event and will continue for years to come.
