Aug. 22, 2012 - PRLog -- A client of the law firm Daniel Hajji and Associates, had been arrested on suspicion of committing numerous felony drug offenses. When their client was charged with six felony drug charges, the client came to Attorney Daniel Hajji and his team for help, and they immediately began to investigate and evaluate the evidence.  First, they were able to unearth mistakes that the police had made throughout the case. Police errors not only weaken the case against the suspect, but they also cast doubt on the validity of the arrest. They were also able to discover that there were numerous constitutional violations in the case. These are key because under the law, evidence can be thrown out of court for certain constitutional violations.

The suspect’s attorneys continued to pursue their investigation of the evidence until it was weakened to such a point that the prosecution offered to dismiss four out of the six charges which had been brought against their client. The team, however, still believed that this was not fair towards their client and that more could be done on their behalf, especially in light of that the client could never receive an expungement of 2 convictions on their record. Due to their tireless efforts on behalf of his client, the prosecution dropped an additional charge against the suspect. The result was that the client only had to face one felony drug charge and complete two years of probation, but did not have to serve any jail time. On top of that, this offense could be completely cleared from their criminal record at a later date through an expungement of this offense.

According to the Michigan Penal Code, crimes are divided into two categories: misdemeanors and felonies. Misdemeanor charges are brought against less serious crimes while felony charges are reserved for the most serious. While misdemeanors are punished by jail time and fines, felonies are punished by time in state prison. Knowing this shows how serious a situation the client was in, with six possible felony convictions possibility in their future. By choosing to work with an experienced Criminal Defense, Attorney Daniel Hajji, the client was avoided jail or prison and all, but one, charges dropped.
