Sept. 7, 2012 - PRLog -- Atlanta, GA – The Gwinnett Chapter of the Georgia Society of CPAs recently hosted U.S. Congressman Rob Woodall as the keynote speaker at their monthly dinner meeting. Woodall made a special stop to directly address the local CPA community.

Jack Milner, president of the Gwinnett Chapter, asked Woodall to speak on timely budget and tax issues. Woodall addressed the group on options for tax overhaul, including his reintroduction of the FairTax with more original co-sponsors than ever before.

“I think it is important for the GSCPA Chapters to hear from local elected officials in order to obtain a greater understanding as to how decisions made at the national level impact our profession as well as our personal lives,” said Milner.

As a member of the budget committee, Woodall is working with Chairman Paul Ryan to craft an aggressive proposal to balance the federal budget, and he encouraged the group to reach out to him and share their thoughts and ideas as it pertains to positively affecting the economy.

“The accounting profession has proven to be a critical partner in restoring faith in our economy.  Apart from providing auditing services, accountants are trusted business advisors who help entrepreneurs and small business owners create jobs.   Visiting with those who are on the front line of economic opportunity—including the Georgia Society of CPAs—ensures that Washington policy reflects their expertise and experience.” said Woodall.

Regional GSCPA chapters throughout the state like the Gwinnett Chapter provide opportunities for GSCPA members to network and become active in their community.

"CPAs offer a very unique and intelligent perspective, and events like this make a very real connection between the profession and Georgia's leaders," said Boyd Search, CEO of the Georgia Society of CPAs.
