English Eccentric launch their Christmas Decorations Collection. Crafty,ethical and wonderful.

Sept. 13, 2012 - PRLog -- Its that time of year to imagine a festive and welcoming home adorned with new and old Christmas decorations lighting up sombre midwinter nights.  Celebrating the winter solstice by bringing light and warmth to our abodes.

At English Eccentric they wanted to combine the charm of hand-crafted goods, with up to date designs and true ethical values for Christmas. They launch their collection on-line on the 1st November and prices start at £4.99.

Sarah Baulch, their Founder wanted to reach new heights and bring something different to their table. And has re-invented the bauble by having them exquisitely crocheted and re-imagined Christmas Tree branches by having the funkily knitted. Only working with those who share her ethical outlook.

Baubles

The baubles come in a number of shapes and sizes. They feature cool Christmas Puddings with holly leaf and berry detail, fun dotty spheres in multi colours, cute miniature pastel baubles and others finished with sweet buttons.

The crochet work is of a high standard and the detail amazing. The Peruvian ladies making them, think the english are slightly crazy wanting them and enjoy producing them. As it gives them the opportunity to earn a living wage from their craft in a new and different way.

Branches
These sculptural pieces are a work of art and have been on Sarah’s mind for some time. Melanie Porter who has established herself as a 3D knitter, working with furniture to lampshades and seemed a perfect partner for the idea. Made in her studio in London, they are a true english eccentric item.

Now every home can have contemporary, knitted branches to adorn their fireplace, weave around the banister or group in a vase with festooned with crochet baubles. The other advantage is no dropping needles and they can be gently teased into new shapes as the knitting sits on a wire frame. Plus they will last a lifetime, bought out ever year to bring something a little bit different to the table or fireplace.

Ethics
English Eccentric believe in positive ethical outcomes for everyone and are committed to not putting profit before people. To this end all their  products are made ethically in Peru with Fairtrade companies and here in the UK.

Where possible their goods are eco friendly too, either in terms of environment, process or materials. From the shanty towns around Lima to cottages in the West Sussex countryside their Chain Supply is healthy and happy.  

About the Founder
Sarah Baulch established English Eccentric, as a sister company to ReVampt, which is about up-cycling. Over five years she has passed on her specialist knowledge to thousands of people. Working on a range of textile projects for such Museums as Kensington Palace in London, appearing on television in the Alan Titchmarsh show talking about Up-cycling and blogging monthly at ReVampt to spread the word.

Sarah has also appeared in the national press a number of times and was named Queen of Green by Good Homes and had her website named as one of it’s top on-line store by Elle Decoration. She has also been featured in a number of Craft magazines, and inspired many people to embark on their own up-cycling projects.
