Ekrem Toptal Puts Family First

Sept. 24, 2012 - PRLog -- In many old world societies, family is given a stronger priority than in the United States. Ekrem Toptal experienced this firsthand when he came to the United States in 1998. After graduating from the prestigious Bilge Kagan High School in Istanbul, he moved to Washington DC to study international business at Strayer University. Family had always been an important part of his life in Turkey. He had an older brother and a younger sister, plus his parents.

The United States' approach to family seemed to Ekrem Toptal as less important that it did in Turkey. He met a variety of people and was able to learn a lot about US culture as well as the English language by the time he earned his bachelor's degree in 2003. Asked about differences in family culture Ekrem Toptal stated, "It seems like people in the states put themselves first. Not that it's necessarily bad though. I grew up in Turkey where much of the emphasis of your identity is about your family, not you individually. It makes a difference in how someone lives their life."

Ekrem Toptal returned to Istanbul in 2009 after working in the United States for four years. Even though he learned a lot about families and personal independence in the US, he decided to put his family first and after serving in the Turkish Armed Forces, he went back to work for his family. Ekrem Toptal's family owns and operates a plastic business named Topdal Plastic. The business completes work for international customers and clients. The fit was perfect and allows Ekrem Toptal to put his personal skills to work for the benefit of his family.

Topdal Plastics recently made Ekrem Toptal a member of its board and he has been working in that capacity since that promotion. Ekrem Toptal enjoys the work immensely and is happy he is able to contribute to his family's business.
