Follow on Google News | ![]() Workforce Investment Board of Ventura County Adds MemberThe Workforce Investment Board (WIB) of Ventura County announced the addition of a new member to the board. Victor Anselmo, Jr. was officially appointed by the Ventura County Board of Supervisors.
By: Workforce Investment Board of Ventura County Anselmo is owner and president of Applied Powdercoat, Inc. in Oxnard. For the past two years, he has been a member of WIB's Applied Basic Skills for Technology-Related Jobs Committee. "There is a disconnect between the types of skills needed for available manufacturing jobs in this county and the current skills of its workforce," says Anselmo. "Our committee is helping develop a readiness certificate program where students and members of the workforce can learn the set of skills that manufacturers need. Since I'm a new WIB board member, I'm up for any challenge to help job growth in Ventura County." "Vic's company employs more than 40 workers in skilled manufacturing jobs," says Alex Rivera, WIB chair. "He brings an important, small business owner's perspective to the board." The Board of Supervisors reappointed current WIB board members Capt. David Sasek, chief staff officer at Naval Base Ventura County, and Celina Zacarias, director of community and government relations for California State University, Channel Islands. "We are fortunate that so many dedicated individuals from business, economic development, government, labor, education and community-based organizations volunteer as WIB board members," says Cheryl Moore, WIB executive director. "It's this kind of collaboration and leadership that is critical as we develop ways to reinvigorate our local economy." About the Workforce Investment Board The Workforce Investment Board administers federal funds that help to support Job & Career Centers (JCCs) and other adult, youth, and employer programs and services in Ventura County. With additional resources from the County of Ventura Human Services Agency, the JCCs provide employment assistance, career training and education services to job seekers, and employee recruitment, customized training and employer consulting to local businesses.
