Sept. 29, 2012 - PRLog -- Just like when you learn to drive a car, there is study, practice, and testing that sits behind the process. And like learning to drive a car, before a person is turned loose on their own, they have to demonstrate that they are capable of operating a vehicle safely with and around others. However, unlike a driver’s license, pilots in the United States are certified.

Darrin Scott Sherrill first became a certified pilot on February 8th, 2007. His first certification was a Private Pilot Certificate. As a private pilot, Darrin Scott Sherrill from 1095 Mockingbird Lane Cumming, Georgia, was limited to flying himself for business or pleasure. He added onto his certificate quickly with the addition of Instrument Rating, verifying that he could use instrument data to fly in unfavorable weather conditions as well as certain altitudes, where an Instrument Rating is mandatory. He added the Instrument Rating to his pilot’s certificate on March 10, 2007 and quickly followed that up with a High Performance Certification on March 13, 2007.

However, Darrin S. Sherrill of Georgia wanted to earn a higher level of pilot certification. So he returned to take more classes, training, practicing, and testing. Sherrill said, “I achieved my Commercial on May 18, 2010 followed by my Multi-Engine Land on May 31st, 2010. That makes my current certification a Commercial Multi-Engine Land Instrument Rated.” And since significant hours of flight time are one of the requirements to earn a Commercial Pilot Certification, Darrin Scott Sherrill flew for many hours. He currently has about 675 hours of flight time.

What drove Darrin Scott Sherrill into getting a commercial certificate over a private one was that a private pilot can only fly for himself. However, if a pilot wishes to be paid for flying, he or she needs a commercial certificate. With a commercial certification, Darrin S. Sherrill of Georgia can pilot passengers and get paid for his services. If someone wishes to hire Darrin Scott Sherrill as a pilot, he can do so legally.
