In Honor of World AIDS day, Balance-The Salon, presents Beauty & the Feast to benefit Moveable Feast

Oct. 9, 2012 - PRLog -- Beauty & the Feast is a fundraiser for Moveable Feast.  In honor of World AIDS Day, the salon will be hosting the second annual event, on December 3rd, from 3-9PM.   Moveable Feast is a local nonprofit which provides nutritious foods and other services in order to preserve quality of life for people with HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening conditions.

On December 3rd, the salon and its staff will donate 100% of the proceeds for all services.  Additionally, Balance will donate $10 for each person who mentions Moveable Feast, when booking an appointment, for the entire month of December.  

Balance is a small, independently owned salon, that is deeply rooted in the Arts and the Community.  We believe that we can make the world a better place, one head at a time. The following are some facts that move us to support this great organization:

HIV/AIDS in Maryland
4 – Maryland ranks 4th in the nation for new HIV infections per capita.
8 – Maryland is 8th among the top 10 states, reporting the highest number of AIDS diagnoses.
9 – Maryland ranks 9th in the nation for cumulative AIDS cases (since the epidemic began).
10 – Baltimore/Towson ranks 10th among all metropolitan areas for estimated AIDS diagnoses.
35,725 – The cumulative number of AIDS cases reported in Maryland since the beginning of the epidemic.

Breast Cancer in Maryland
5 – Maryland ranks 5th in the nation, out of 50 states, for deaths from breast cancer.
800 – Expected deaths in Maryland due to breast cancer in 2011
4,850 – Expected breast cancer diagnoses of women in Maryland in 2011
