EASE Foundation names Bob Moss, CEO of Moss & Associates, Humanitarian of the Year

CEO of Moss & Associates construction honored at luncheon

DAVIE, FL –– The EASE Foundation has bestowed Humanitarian of the Year award to Bob Moss, CEO of Moss & Associates Construction in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The Foundation honored Mr. Moss at its Oct. 4 annual Humanitarian of the Year luncheon, where it honors “one special person from our community who has proven the embrace a philanthropic lifestyle.”

Mr. Moss has spent a lifetime in community service, raising millions for charities, supporting Broward and South Florida causes. The Boy Scouts honored Mr. Moss earlier this year with the Distinguished Citizen Award. When a cash-strapped Fort Lauderdale church needed a new building, Moss agreed to build it at cost, foregoing all profit. When the church couldn’t pay, Moss kept working, effectively bankrolling construction until the church could raise the funds.

Mr. Moss has been particularly active raising money for coral reef research at the Nova Southeastern University Oceanographic Center.  Mr. Moss personally and Moss & Associates have supported many causes, including the American Red Cross, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Chapman Partnership homeless shelters and its programs, among others.

The Davie Emergency Assistance Service Effort (EASE) was founded by the business community and residents of Davie to run as a nonprofit foundation, working with other human service agencies throughout Broward County. With the slogan “a hand up, not a hand out,” the Foundation is a local, grass roots-oriented organization designed to help qualified residents, on a one-time basis, in need of temporary emergency financial help. While the Foundation’s focus is to prevent homelessness, it also reaches out to the homeless with food, clothing and hygiene supplies.
