Kapila and Mukamal CPAs Form KapilaMukamal Consulting Firm

MIAMI - April 23, 2014 - PRLog -- Veteran Forensic Accountants and Insolvency Advisors, Soneet Kapila and Barry Mukamal, have announced the formation of a new consulting firm named KapilaMukamal, LLP effective May 1, 2014, with offices in downtown Miami and Fort Lauderdale.  Kapila and Mukamal, both CPAs, are Co-Managing Partners of the new entity.

The new consulting firm concentrates on the principal’s well-known niche in fiduciary and insolvency services including restructuring, forensic and investigative consulting, and litigation support services including expert witness testimony.  The collective expertise of the new firm also allows the group to offer additional services such as business valuations, matrimonial forensics and provide a strong platform for middle management within the firm to grow.

As sitting members on the Panel of U.S. Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustees in the Southern District of Florida, both Kapila and Mukamal regularly serve in fiduciary roles including Chief Restructuring Officer, Corporate Monitor, Examiner, Chapter 11 Trustee, Liquidating Trustee and Receiver. The new firm brings together top talent recognized for extensive professional achievements in insolvency and restructuring, ponzi schemes, fraud investigations, insolvency taxation and litigation support in a wide gamut of industries.

Kapila & Company, CPAs, founded in 1993 by Managing Partner Soneet Kapila, focused its efforts on insolvency, fiduciary and creditors’ rights matters. Partners and staff joining the new consulting firm include those from Kapila & Company’s Fort Lauderdale office, which has gained prominence and credibility over the last 20 years in Florida. Kapila holds several designa-tions including Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Insolvency & Restructuring Advisor (CIRA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF). He is a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy and a member of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the American Bankruptcy Institute, the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees and the Association of Insolvency & Restructuring Advisors, where he served as past Chairman and President. Kapila received a Master of Business Administration from the Cranfield School of Management Studies in England.

He is currently staffing the firm’s new Downtown Miami office at SunTrust International Center, One SE 3rd Avenue, Suite 2150 with approximately 3,000 square feet. For the past 17 years, Mukamal practiced with Marcum, LLP in Miami, a public accounting and advisory services, providing business reorganization and insolvency services as well as litigation support and expert witness services to a broad array of clients and industries.  Prior to that, he concentrated his practice in litigation support and matrimonial forensics in his firm MAF&M for 15 years.

Mukamal’s designations include Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) and Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) He is also a candidate for the Certified Insolvency & Restructuring Advisor (CIRA) designation. Mukamal is a member of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountant and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He received a Master of Accounting and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Buffalo.
