Oct. 11, 2012 - PRLog -- “I am fed up of hearing about initiatives where young people with behaviour issues are being rewarded with fun activities in an attempt to adjust their attitude problems whilst a majority of well behaved young people never get such opportunities”, said the founder of a new charity in Milton Keynes.

Gary Payne from Young People are our Future continued. “How is it right that a young person who behaves badly in school can be given the opportunity to go paint balling, have a motorcross experience and enjoy days out visiting parks when young people who respect the rules of the school and comply to the relevant discipline codes never receive such rewards”

Statistics support the fact that a majority of young people are a fantastic addition to their community and whilst we are often exposed to negative stories about young people, those that cause problems are very much the minority.

The Young People are our Future project was set up to provide all young people with a fantastic opportunity to learn some important life skills and enjoy a variety of FREE workshops in a range of activities including sport, music, dance, drama and the arts.

The project team is made entirely up of volunteers who believe that all young people deserve the right opportunities to grow safely and enjoy what life has to offer and not just those that have been rewarded for their bad behaviour.

So, how does the project work?
Step 1 - Young people are invited to attend a proven 2 hour seminar on realistic and practical life skills, where they will learn how to increase their personal safety, communication skills, ability to both set and achieve goals and ultimately their confidence and self esteem.

Step 2 - Young people are invited to attend a variety of FREE workshops in a range of sports, dance, music, drama and arts based activities. This is an excellent way of them enhancing their new skills and increasing their wellbeing and social interaction skills.

Step 3 - Young people who are 14 years old and above will receive a unique employability seminar designed to provide them with presentation skills, interview techniques, CV writing skills and much more.

The project is hoping to engage 25,000 young people from across the city and through the process of enjoyable education will create a positive vibe that will reduce some of the negative affects to society that a minority of young people thrive on creating.

Whilst the charity is situated in the heart of Milton Keynes within Midsummer House, a large percentage of the project will be delivered across the city within community centres, schools and other facilities.

“The charity is set up to educate, inspire and motivate 25,000 young people and to do this we are offering 60 local schools with FREE life skills training, 120 local residents with FREE training to become project coaches and 50 local clubs with a fantastic marketing opportunity”. said Marc Webster the chairperson of YPAOF.

Whilst ambitious, a small army of volunteers have already joined the project team and several companies have thrown their support behind the project including John Lewis, Home Retail Group and Jurys Inn.
