BrainCafé organizes BrainCafé Budding Scientist Contest 2012 in Bhopal to motivate young minds with scientific learning

Bhopal: From launching a rocket to creating LED screen. Many such interesting experiments were demonstrated at the ‘BrainCafé Budding Scientist Contest 2012’ organized by BrainCafé, an activity based learning program of Zee Learn that bridges gap between teaching and learning science. The competition observed participation from 72 students across 22 schools showcasing their talent in the field of Science. The event took place at :        GYAN GANGA INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY RATANPURA.
Students from renowned schools across cities such as Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Ratlam, Manasa, Dhamnod participated in this event. Amongst the schools that participated were, Rose MARY-HARSHWARDHAN NAGAR BHOPAL, U K CONVENT- BHOPAL, ROSE MARY-KOLAR ROAD BHOPAL, BANK OFFICER SCHOOL-AYODHYA BYPASS BHOPAL, MOUNT LITERA ZEE SCHOOL-INDORE, SHRI INTERNATIONAL-RATLAM, MOUNT LITERA ZEE SCHOOL-RATLAM, FLORENCE INTERNATIONAL-MANASA, SPRING DAY HR SEC SCHOOL-JABALPUR, UDAY PUBLIC SCHOOL-SEONI, YUGANTAR PUBLIC SCHOOL-RAJNANDGAON etc exhibited their models based on scientific principles.
The occasion was graced by the presence of Mr. MS ASHA CHAGLANI - M.Sc[CHEMISTRY], B.ED, MR GIRISH HEMRAJANI - .Sc[CHEMISTRY], M.A[ENGLISH], B.Ed, MS. SHRIRUPA KUNDU MONDAL - M.Sc[ZOOLOGY] ,B.Ed.  
Mr Amanpal Singh, Business Head, BrainCafé, said, “The BrainCafé Budding Scientist Contest’12” is one of India’s largest Science competition that provides students with the unique platform to showcase their ability to apply scientific principles for creating working models. Held across different levels, from School to the National level, the contest attempts to develop High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) among students through the route of Science. The BrainCafé technique enables the ’Learning by Doing’ through the unique teaching methodology, based on ‘Observe, Explore and Reflect.”
“In order to motivate participants to encourage innovation, BrainCafé offers an international trip to the first prize winner from each category. The student can bag a chance to visit Japan’s Gakken Educational Company,” added Mr Singh.
Last year, the BrainCafé Budding Scientist Contest 2011 had observed participation from 3,000 students across 90 schools in the country. “The range of innovations demonstrated by BrainCafé students during the contest had been beyond belief. From Hydraulic Lift to Elevator, Solar Car to Rotating lamp, Barometer to Wind Mill– the diversity of creativity was phenomenal. The projects were demonstrated applying the BrainCafé system of learning scientific principles,” explains Mr Singh.
