Aurion Learning Develops Equality & Diversity E-learning Programme for Belfast City Council

Oct. 15, 2012 - PRLog -- Aurion Learning has further cemented its reputation as one of the UK’s leading suppliers of e-learning by being awarded a new contract to develop an equality and diversity e-learning programme for Belfast City Council, as part of its Peace III programme.

Aurion Learning has been working in partnership with the Council to design and build a
new equality and diversity e-learning programme suitable for Council staff.

Speaking about the new training programme, Councillor Maire Hendron, Chair of Belfast City Council’s Good Relations Partnership said:

“In our role as an employer, service deliverer and civic leader Belfast City Council sees diversity as being central to the social and economic growth of the city. . Diversity is about acknowledging how our differences as individuals and as members of groups can improve the quality of our lives.”

She added: “This new equality and diversity e-learning programme will help us effect positive change within the Council both for the people who work here and for the stakeholders who avail of Council services or come into contact with our staff.

“It will also help us to encourage and support equality and good relations – and in particular promote equality of opportunity between persons of different religious beliefs; political opinion; racial group; age, marital status; sexual orientation; between men and women generally; between persons with a disability and persons without; and between persons with dependants and persons without.

“This project is funded by the PEACE III Programme and is part of the council’s ‘Growing a Shared City’ initiative.

“This equality and diversity e-learning programme is part of a wider blended approach to generating mainstream staff engagement with diversity issues. In particular, it will enable staff at Belfast City Council to consider and reflect on the part they play in building an inclusive culture across the Council and the City of Belfast a whole.”
