Former Football Player, Dave Porter, Celebrates Time at Southern Utah University

Oct. 19, 2012 - PRLog -- Dave Porter is pleased to announce that he’s currently celebrating his past accomplishments as a football player and coach at Southern Utah University. The international importer and exporter (associated with Red Rock International Guinea) is currently reminiscing about his past achievements and accomplishments at Southern Utah University, and is eager to share in the celebration of those achievements with others.

In 1987, Dave Porter began playing football at Brigham Young University.  He played with Brigham Young until 1989 when he transferred to Southern Utah University, a much smaller university where he would have the chance to shine as a star player.

“Even today,” comments Dave Porter, “I still think that was one of the best things I ever did for myself.  I wasn’t getting the football experience I wanted out of BYU.  However, I thought I would be able to find that at Southern Utah University – and I did!”

Porter’s first season with Southern Utah University was in the fall of 1990.  He was named an All Conference player during that first year at Southern Utah (a title he also received the following year, his last year as a player).  The next year, he was the proud recipient of an Honorable Mention for the All American title at Southern Utah University.  After the 1991 season, Porter’s college football career came to an end.

“I suppose it was bittersweet,” comments Dave Porter, as he reminisces about his football playing days at Southern Utah coming to an end.  “Of course, all good things do end.  And, I think I was ready for a break at that time.  I knew I wouldn’t be going pro, so a break was what I needed then.”

Despite receiving that well-deserved break, Dave Porter wasn’t able to stay away for long.  He returned to his Alma Mater in later years as a football coach.
