The Ugly Sweater Run Coming To Chicago

Who says running can't be fun? The Ugly Sweater Run, dubbed "the ugliest 5K on the planet," offers an “ugly”-saturated, fun-filled experience for runners and walkers of all ages across city streets this winter.

Thousands of runners show up each morning dressed in their ugliest holiday sweaters ready to celebrate with holiday themed aide stations at each mile along the race.  The start line features snow machines, reindeer games, and awesome holiday music. The rules for the Ugly Sweater Run are simple: anyone can participate, the dress code is an ugly sweater, and by the end, runners are able to go sledding, provided with hot chocolate and Sam Adams Winter Lager for those of age.

The run, which isn't timed, is "less about speed and more about enjoying a crazy day with your friends and family," according to Jeff Suffolk, President of Human Movement Management, race series operators.

Each Ugly Sweater Run asks that every runner bring a new toy to donate to Toys for Tots following each race.

The Ugly Sweater Run kicks off at 11:00 a.m. on November 24, 2012 on the streets of Montrose Harbor in Downtown Chicago.
