Bering: Inspired by Arctic Beauty

The evergreen and anchor watches belong to the Slim Ceramic collection that is inspired by the eternal ice and the infinite flat expanse of the Arctic landscape. The idea of using ceramic - pure white and pleasant to the touch, is reminiscent of the cool, simple beauty of the flawless white of the ice.

This idea was conceived in 2008 by Danish adventurer and businessman Rene Kaerskov when he jumped out of a helicopter into the freezing Arctic. He wanted to capture the moment of his landing at the North Pole that was marked by the breath taking beauty of the eternal ice and the infinite flat expanse of the Arctic landscape.

Thereafter, with two other partners, BERING was born. The brand name pays homage to Danish explorer Vitus Bering, who set sail for uncharted areas in the Arctic exactly 280 years before Rene, and was the first European to discover Alaska.

The Slim Ceramic collection is a range of slim and flat design watches that are highly scratch-resistant and extremely durable. The watch crystal is made from sapphire glass, a material that is second only to diamond in terms of scratch-resistance, and the watch case and bezel from HighTech-Ceramic.

The HighTech-Ceramic is manufactured by filling fine ceramic powder into a mould, then heating to 1600 degrees Centigrade. After cooling, the material is sanded, shaped and polished using real diamond tools. The result is a hardwearing, lightweight, heat-resistant and hypoallergenic watch, distinctly smooth and comfortable to wear thanks to the unique properties of ceramic.

BERING is the first brand to specialise in the production of super-slim high-tech ceramic watches within an independent collection.
