During the closing days of the election, Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) and the National Nurses United (NNU) are working with allies to Get Out the Vote (GOTV) for progressive candidates for the House and Senate, supporting a "Medicare for All" Slate.

PDA, NNU and allies will hold three events in Wisconsin this week. Friday, November 2nd at 8 PM they will host a guided discussion at the The Wisconsin Federation of Nurses & Health Professionals offices in Milwaukee, moderated by John Nichols (The Nation Magazine, MSNBC Contributor). Guest speakers will include: PDA's National Director Tim Carpenter, NNU's Director of Public Policy Michael Lighty, Judith LeBlanc from Peace Action, and Dr. Robert Kraig from Citizen Action of Wisconsin.

Lighty and Carpenter will join with author/commentator Jim Hightower at the UAW Local 95 Hall in Janesville Saturday November 3rd, 11 am to 1 pm. Rob Zerban--who is challenging Paul Ryan in Wisconsin's 1st District--and John Nichols will also appear. Then, from 2:30 to 3:30 pm. Carpenter and Lighty will appear in Madison, WI, with Mark Pocan, Congressional Candidate in Wisconsin's 2nd District, one of the leaders of the Wisconsin walkout All three Wisconsin events will also seek to help Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin, win her close race for the U.S. Senate.

PDA's National Communications Coordinator Mike Hersh will travel to Detroit, MI November 2nd to mobilize volunteers to help elect Dr. Syed Taj--a medical doctor running to defeat "9/11 Truther" Kerry Bentivolio--in Michigan's 11th congressional district.

Sunday, PDA Deputy Director Conor Boylan will join Carpenter and Lighty in Champaign, IL to launch door-to-door canvassing mobilizing the progressive vote for Dr. David Gill who is running for Congress from Illinois' 13th district.

From now through Election Day, PDA's Phone Bank director Mike Fox will organize volunteers across the USA making GOTV calls for progressive candidates including Dr. Ami Bera--a Medicare for All medical doctor running against 4-term incumbent Dan Lungren in California's 7th District and Alan Grayson--former Congressman running in Florida's 9th District, as well as Dr. Gill, and Dr. Taj.

Jim Hightower said, "PDA, NNU, and I are joining together to make sure Tammy Baldwin carries Wisconsin. She is now under a slanderous last-minute attack from Karl Rove! I once wrote a book called 'If the Gods Had Meant Us to Vote They Would Have Given Us Candidates.' Well, the Gods mean for us to vote--and donate--and make phone calls--this year, because you don't find great progressive candidates like Tammy Baldwin and Mark Pocan and Rob Zerban every day."

Hightower continued, "PDA and I have been boot-stomping for weeks, starting with PDA's 'Progressive Central' in Charlotte during the DNC, and even riding down to Orlando, last week, where we stood with our best Florida agitator, Alan Grayson who is now a good bet to win a congressional seat there. And PDA has been in Michigan and Illinois to make house calls on behalf of Dr. Syed Taj and Dr. David Gill, two more great progressive champions who can win."

Tim Carpenter said, "While most Americans are focused exclusively on the Presidential Race, PDA and allies are mobilizing voters to elect strong progressives to the House and Senate. After Election Day, we look forward to working with a more-progressive Congress to expand and improve Medicare to cover all Americans, end the war and divert funds to meet human needs, as well as make our tax and budget policies more fair and effective with the Robin Hood Tax and more."

Progressive Democrats of America was founded in 2004 to reform the Democratic Party and restore its focus on first principles including social and economic justice, environmental protection, ending corporate rule, promoting fair and transparent elections, fair--not "free"--trade, and ending wars and occupations. PDA is a federal PAC and has endorsed several candidates for Congress in the 2012 elections. For more information about PDA, please see: http://www.PDAmerica.org
