Tamarind Of London To Open For Lunch During Holidays

Nov. 8, 2012 - PRLog -- To accommodate the influx of shoppers expected to crowd Crystal Cove and other shopping centers this holiday season, Tamarind of London will begin serving lunch Tuesday-Sunday (11:30 a.m –2:30 p.m.) starting Tuesday, November 13 through the end of the year. Recently named Best Indian Restaurant in Orange County by the Golden Foodie Awards, Tamarind Of London will offer a varied menu with most items in the $8 - $11 range and will be created by Orange County's only Michelin ranked chef, Alfred Prasad, who has earned 11 stars in his illustrious career (a Michelin star is one of the restaurant industry's most coveted and highest honors).  

Among the new lunch items are a number of salads priced $11 & under.  They include a lime-leaf salmon and giant couscous salad; trio of mushrooms salad with Portobello, Shitake, and oyster mushrooms; and a calamari and quinoa salad served with sunflower seeds and a mixed citrus dressing.

The brand new "naanwiches" (sandwiches made with naan bread) include one with tuna, sweet corn and red onions; a vegetarian option with beans, mild cheddar and arugula; a butter chicken and pickled onion “naanwich”; and a beef and potato pepper-fry version served with charred eggplant dip. Also on the menu are whole-wheat roti wraps, which range from $9-11, available stuffed with paneer cheese and peppers as well as one with lamb kebab and avocado. The wraps are served with julienne vegetables, mint chutney and organic greens.

A variety of thali combination plates, $12-16, include vegetarian, butter chicken, beef vindaloo, black pepper prawns and fish curry options. They are served with the vegetable of the day, lentils, rice, naan, and raita (yogurt sauce). Dessert options, $5-6, include poached pear with ginger ice cream and chocolate molten cake. Guests will also have combo meal options that offer a drink, salad and naanwich or wrap for $15 or a 3-course option that includes dessert for $20.
