Follow on Google News | ![]() Workforce Investment Board of Ventura County Adds Two MembersThe Workforce Investment Board (WIB) of Ventura County announced the addition of two new board members. Bruce Stenslie and Gregory Liu were officially appointed by the Ventura County Board of Supervisors on October 23, 2012.
By: workforce Investment Board of Ventura County Bruce Stenslie is president/CEO of the Economic Development Collaborative- "Bruce brings valuable experience to the WIB through his leadership at EDC-VC," says Alex Rivera, WIB chair. "With Bruce as a board member of the California Workforce Investment Board, we now have representation from Ventura County at a state level." Gregory Liu is owner/CEO of Jaxx Manufacturing, Inc., an electronics contract manufacturer in Simi Valley. Liu became involved in the WIB’s manufacturing sector initiatives because of his interest in attracting new business and raising workforce competency in the county. "It's smart business for employers to get involved, both locally and statewide," says Liu. Stenslie and Liu have been active on the WIB's Applied Basic Skills for Technology-Related Jobs Committee. The committee is currently working with educators on certificate programs that would offer workforce training to help meet the needs of employers and job seekers in manufacturing. "Bruce and Greg have demonstrated a strong commitment to the growth and vitality of businesses and the workforce in the Ventura County region," says Cheryl Moore, WIB executive director. "We look forward to their contributions as WIB members." Members of the WIB include leaders from business, economic development, education, labor, government and community-based organizations. About the Workforce Investment Board The Workforce Investment Board administers federal funds that help to support Job & Career Centers (JCCs) and other adult, youth, and employer programs and services in Ventura County. With additional resources from the County of Ventura Human Services Agency, the JCCs provide employment assistance, career training and education services to job seekers, and employee recruitment, customized training and employer consulting to local businesses.
