Since 2008, Jubilee Arts has been working to regain the former glory of this historic corridor by providing art classes, leading public art projects and offering other cultural experiences to community residents. On Thursday, November 15 from 6-9pm, Jubilee Arts will hold its 3rd Annual Art Fundraiser, at the Fells Point gallery of acclaimed artist Loring Cornish. Guests will be able to meet Cornish, a visionary “outsider” Proceeds from the event will support the operation of Jubilee Arts at 1947 Pennsylvania Avenue whose arts classes and cultural opportunities serve as alternatives to drugs and violence in the Sandtown-Winchester and Upton. The program offers year-round classes and programming for people ages 6 and older in these underserved communities. Jubilee Arts is a program of Newborn Holistic Ministries, a community-based nonprofit founded in 1996 with a mission to preserve and enrich life in the community by providing services that enable residents to meet their material, social, and spiritual needs. Jubilee Arts, in partnership with Baltimore Clayworks and the Maryland Institute College of Art, offers affordable quality classes to people of all ages in ceramics, visual arts, creative writing and dance and provides opportunities for local artists to teach and showcase their work in Jubilee’s exhibit and performance spaces.
