Hyperion Global Partners Releases Survey on Microsoft Windows 8

Dec. 17, 2012 - PRLog -- Sugar Land, TX  – Hyperion Global Partners, a premier business and technology consulting practice to the legal profession, announces the company’s research division, Hyperion Research, recently conducted a survey that finds Microsoft is strongly positioned to establish a leadership position as the mobility platform of choice for law firms and corporate legal departments with the release of Windows Phone 8.

The survey of legal IT Managers was conducted in mid-October. The Hyperion Insights™ survey explored the use of smartphones and tablets by law firms and corporate law departments.  While current device support is largely dominated by Apple iOS or RIM Blackberry devices, the market remains open with no clear long term standard.  When asked specifically about the impact of the Windows 8 release on their mobility strategies, 82% reported that they will implement, or will actively evaluate, Windows 8 as their mobility infrastructure standard.

“Given Microsoft’s historical strength in the legal market we anticipated that CIOs and legal operations managers would be looking at Windows 8, and our survey results validate this interest,” observed Eyal Iffergan, President of Hyperion Global Partners. “Mobility is in the early stages of a steep adoption curve for legal professionals, yet no platform seems to have established an unassailable position.”

Based on its market intelligence, Hyperion Research predicts that the next 12-24 months will be an extremely active period for legal IT to determine their mobile technology standards.  “Mobility is one of those technologies that lawyers find particularly valuable,” says Ralph Schroeder, managing director of Hyperion Research.  “Microsoft may prove to be a very competitive solution.”
