Other organizations that received grants included those that are providing basic needs and services such as food, shelter, clothing and medical care and serve communities in: the District of Columbia, Delaware, California, New York, Florida, Oregon, Texas, Washington, Oklahoma, North Carolina and Vermont. The A Soldier’s Smile events take place across the nation at the offices of over two dozen dentists who have volunteered their time, facilities and resources to help veterans restore their dental health. “We owe an enormous debt of gratitude to those who serve or have served in our country’s military, as well as to the families of those individuals.” The A Soldier’s Smile nomination was submitted by Facebook users who felt the nonprofit was providing extraordinary impact in the local community. “We are grateful for the nomination and glad that Walmart has selected our organization as a cause that has significant community impact” says dentist Mike Maroon of Berlin, CT. “Our only wish is to help as many veterans as possible and create awareness so that other organizations may follow suit.” The A Soldier’s Smile campaigns were put together by the Academy of Comprehensive Esthetics (ACE) and marketing partner Results, Production & Marketing (RPM) of Miami, FL. Select ACE dentists are involved in the nonprofit and will be providing free dental care to soldiers who are not otherwise eligible or cannot afford it.
