Follow on Google News | Peter Millard to Launch Salon Lighting at Redken SymposiumColor Accurate Lighting Created for Professional Colorists and Endorsed by 9 of Redken’s Top Artists
By: TCR Marketing Peter Millard is a well known, NYC-based designer focused on retail and salon spaces in the beauty industry. His clients include Redken, Kerastase, Ralph Lauren, Armani, Essie, L'Oreal Professionnel and Chanel. For the past 18 years, he has been a Redken main stage performing artist, speaking with salon owners who want to take their salons and retail sales to the highest levels. Said Peter Millard: “The most challenging issue colorists face, when trying to achieve great color results in today’s salons, is bad lighting. How can you do good work, when you can’t see what you are doing?” Redken Artistic Director Kris Sorbie agreed, saying: “Salon lighting should be the first and major consideration in salon interior design. Without efficient light, we, as stylists, cannot do an effective job in meeting client expectations.” Peter spent years searching for the right bulb. Unable to find an inexpensive solution and unhappy with the look of existing designs, he decided to fill the gap in the market with his own line of lighting. Partnering with LED experts, Peter created a reasonably priced light that is beautifully designed and can be easily installed in tracks and ceiling fixtures available at stores like Home Depot or Lowe’s. Redken’s Leah Freeman enthused, “There has never been lighting made for a salon that has been so accurate that was affordable!” before adding, “I am buying them for my salon.” Once the product was ready for testing, Redken supplied nine of their top colorists from the US and the UK. Kris Sorbie, David Stanko, Leah Freeman, George Garcia, Ty Isobe, Adam Browne, and Sam Villa as well as Ruth Roche and Mary Katherine Hecht from Pureology, were all tasked to do evaluations of the lighting’s color accuracy and clarity. They were searching for a “True Color, Pure Light”. “ Literally see your color the way it was intended to be seen. Luminous, lustrous, real “ Adam Browne said after working under the lights. “Clean crisp light means clear crisp colors. If you want the professional edge in your salon, make the investment!” The final product is an LED light that is cool and comfortable to work under. It emits only 20% of the heat associated with halogens and incandescents, while using only 20% of the energy—thus, dramatically reducing electricity and air-conditioning costs. These 21-Watt LED bulbs are warranted for three years—their average rated life being five to seven years. Priced at $189.00 per light, including the housing, the lights can be paid for by electrical savings alone in two years. Said Peter Millard: “Why would a colorist pay more for a good blow dryer, than for the lighting they practice their craft under? Lighting is as important as any tool they use professionally, PLUS the design is sleek and beautiful!” The lighting will be available online at beautysalonlighting.com or at 888 960 7675, as well as through Salon Centric distributors at 877 661 1508 or at salonfurnishings@ End
