Senior Planners Industry Network (SPIN) Selects Atlantic City for 2013 Annual Conference

Jan. 10, 2013 - PRLog -- The Senior Planners Industry Network (SPIN) announced the third annual conference for its members is set for June 5 – 7, 2013, in Atlantic City at Harrah’s Resort.

SPIN specifically selected Atlantic City due to the association’s dedication to Geographic Social Responsibility (what SPIN has coined 'GSR').  SPIN Founder, Shawna Suckow, CMP, said one of the primary reasons for selecting Atlantic City was to bring business into an area sorely affected by last year’s Super-Storm Sandy.  “If we have a chance to bring our annual conference someplace that needs the focus and support of the industry’s most veteran planners,” explained Suckow, “then I believe that’s what SPIN should do.”  

Tracey Smith, CMP, CMM, SPIN’s vice president of programs, said another reason was the direction Atlantic City is taking to become the emerging venue for group business. “Harrah’s just received approval to build the largest ballroom between Boston and Baltimore, making it a great location for East Coast meetings,” Smith explained. The hotel’s willingness to help with SPIN’s innovative conference, and the overwhelming support of the Atlantic City Convention and Visitor’s Authority, further sealed the deal for Smith.

This year’s conference theme is ‘RE:Think,’ which aims to challenge members to think differently about how they plan and design conferences as well as where they hold them.

SPIN is the largest meetings industry association comprised entirely of senior-level meeting and event planners with at least 10 years’ experience. Since its inception in 2008, SPIN has grown to more than 2000 members across the U.S. and Canada. Members plan the full gamut of meetings from corporate and association to incentive and international conferences to medical, pharma and government events.
