Earlier this month, we were invited to India to attend the Grand Inauguration Ceremony and Celebration of  Biotechayur Pvt Ltd in Odisha, India. From the Kolkata Airport, Balasore is a 4 hour drive.  Upon our arrival in the late evening, we were greeted with an elaborately decorated Research & Development Building, covered in holiday lights.   Ten members of the Biotechayur staff greeted our vehicle with flowers.   The building was a stark contrast to the plain office buildings we passed along the way.  This three story R & D building was clearly a modern state-of-the art facility.  Upon entrance into the building, we marveled at the custom made furniture in each of the offices and conference rooms, with marble floors throughout the facility.  It was a relief to see western-style toilets and an elevator.   Also on the premises is a two story Executive Office, a three story guest house with 12 guest suites, and a canteen for the staff    
On December 2nd, we witnessed Puja Ceremony, a sacred ritual that Hindu people perform, to pray and adore their deities,  done by Priests in the Sanskrit language, which is the ancient language of India.   The Puja Ceremony were performed at both the R & D Facility and the Biotechayur Manufacuring Unit (5 miles away), at the newly built biotech park.   The R & D Building and the Manufacturing Unit are referred to as Ayurnagar One and Ayurnagar Two.  

The following day on December 3, 2012, the celebration of Biotechayur Pvt. Ltd.  began with a tour of the Biotechayur Manufacuring Unit, followed by a ribbon cutting at the

R & D Building.   Live music filled the air, and guests were treated to a cultural performance and traditional Indian meals.   The highlight of the celebration was a two hour symposium, where several of the honored guests (from the USA &Singapore) spoke on various subjects, ranging from Bio-pharmaceutical Science to the current industries in Odisha, India.

The CEO and Founder of Biotechayur Pvt. Ltd., is Dr. Abhay Kumar Pati , who left Odisha 33 years ago, to come to theUnited States as a scholar.  His intention was to do research on the History & Philosophy of Medicine.  Due to financial problems, he started working for an Institute in California, called  the Wholistic Health & Nutrition Institute in Mill Valley,California, USA.

Dr. Pati came to the U.S., with only a few dollars in his pocket. Today,  he is a successful businessman in the U.S., an industrialist, entrepreneur, author and visionary.  He never forgot his native India, and had a vision to see prosperity grow in the locality where he was born.  Dr. Pati was born in Basantapur, Balasore District, Orissa, India.  He was trained as physician with an integrated degree - both in  Ayurvedic and western medicine in Calcutta at the J.B. Roy State AyurvedicMedical College & Hospital (Asthanga Ayurvedic College),  one of the oldest Ayurvedic Institutions in India, underCalcutta University.  The founder of   Asthanga Ayurvedic College were Jamin Bhusan Ray, Mohatma Gandhi and Sardar Vallabh  Bhai Patel.

In the early 1980’s, Dr. Pati was the publisher of an alternative health magazine,  Health World .which had a large circulation from 1980 to mid 1990s.  As the popularity of the internet increased,  his magazine circulation declined, and his days as a magazine publisher ended.  He then focused his attention on his own line of herbal vitamins and Ayurvedic supplements in the mid 1990s, which are under the name of a corporation he founded, called Best Nutrition Products Inc.   Dr. Pati has formultated over 250 Ayurvedic, nutritional, sports and Chinese health  products.   Best Nutrition Products are sold in retail outlets across the globe and on e-commerce and internet websites.   Dr. Pati  currently has 53 websites, which promote his product lines.

Dr.Pati says, 60% of our health problems can be prevented and treated with better food/nutrition choices, herbal supplements and positive lifestyle changes.  Many of the modern drugs we find today have been derived from the Ayurvedic system of India, which include morphine, dopamine, digitalis, rowelfia, and many others.  Herbal Ayurvedic supplements are becoming quite popular in the health food industry on the global market, such as:   Ashwagandha, Gugul, Boswelia, Neem, Tulsi, Amla, Triphala, Psyllium ( isabgul), Turmeric or Haldi (curcumin) and hundreds of others.  

In addition to his vitamins and supplements, Dr. Pati is an author of several books on nutrition, fruits, medicinal plants, and alternative health.  He has sold over a million copies of his books on the international market.  He is in a process of compiling a new encyclopedia book called Ayurpedia, a physician desk reference on  the Ayurvedic Indigenous traditional medicine of  India.

After multiple and extensive visits China over the last 25 years, Dr. Pati  made the decision to manufacture the highest standard herbal raw materials,  which continues to be a growing and demanding  industry.  He began manufacturing standardized high-value medicinal plants extracts from Ayurvedic medicinal plants from India,  and is in the process of extracting protein, amino acids, Vitamin E, Vitamin C etc from organic sources.   The Biotechayur Manufacturing Facility, has advanced industrial extractors, evaporators, centrifuge and the highest standard spray dryer and vacuum dryer which are the processing equipment for botanical & molecular extraction.  

The Biotech-ayur Manufacturing Unit is geared to establish protocols for making  standardized molecules from various plants as well as certifying highest standard analytical, elemental, chemical, drugs, food, nutritional products to environmental health care in Odisha India.

Biotechnology is based on a combination of cross-sectional technologies and multi-disciplinary scientific areas that uses biology, chemistry, physics, information technology, and engineering with applications in areas such as: healthcare, agriculture and environment. Bio-technological applications use biological systems, living organisms, microbes, cells, plants, and natural products to make or modify products and processes for specific use. Also, biotechnology combines major biological-disciplines like genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, microbiology, cell biology, bio-chemical/bio-process engineering, bio-information technology, and plant sciences to develop various products.

Biotechayur Pvt. Ltd.  employs a few hundred people, including scientists, microbiologist, Ayurvedic graduates and graduates in organic chemistry, botany, pharmacy, and biotechnology.  

Dr. Pati is currently in the process of leasing several  large plots of farmland to grow organically medicinal plants, which will be certified by the USDA.  His Biotechayur Pvt Ltd is a 100% Export Oriented Unit  (EOU) recognized by Government of India.
