Follow on Google News | ![]() New explosion prevention system for mobile equipmentPyroban has launched a new gas detection system designed for mobile industrial vehicles used in “enhanced safety areas” called “Gascheka duo”.
By: Molokini Marketing The new Gascheka duo from Pyroban is a simple addition to any diesel, LPG or electric vehicle, ensuring it will have its own integral gas detection system and cannot operate when an explosive atmosphere could be present. The system gives the vehicle operator a warning if it detects a gas or vapour at just 10% LEL (propane in air) and is designed to automatically shut down the equipment at 25% LEL (propane in air) before dangerous levels are reached, bringing the equipment to a safe and controlled stop. Gascheka duo can be fitted to all types of equipment including vans, forklifts, cranes and access platforms operating within areas requiring enhanced levels of safety protection. These are typically specific areas within refineries, chemical and petrochemical operations, aerosol storage, distilleries and a wide range of manufacturing and logistics operations. Supplied as a kit of parts, Gascheka duo can be fitted locally within a matter of hours and, as a system has full ATEX and IECEx certification to Ex II 3 G and Ex nA nC ic IIB T5 Gc. “Gascheka duo is for non-classified or de-classified areas where full ATEX compliant equipment is not required,” says Malcolm Davis, Business Manager for Pyroban’s Industrial Division. “Typical applications include aerosol storage with an order placed last week to fit Gascheka duo to fifty battery electric trucks working within the warehouse of a major logistics provider. In such cases risk assessments support the need for Gascheka duo when considering the effects from the accidental release of gas or vapours and vehicles operating in these enhanced safety areas.” Once Gascheka duo shuts down the equipment, it cannot be restarted without the permission of the “Person in Authority” such as the Site Manager or Safety Manager and before the equipment can be restarted it will also check the area is gas or vapour free. The system uses interchangeable ‘plug and play’ infrared and pellistor gas sensing heads to ensure the correct technology can be matched according to the hazard. Gascheka duo is used in many operations alongside Pyroban’s full explosion proof products as part of a total site safety solution, to help secure the safety of staff, the brand and supply chain. The new explosion prevention system has been nominated and shortlisted for the 2013 FLTA (Fork Lift Truck Association) For further information, visit www.pyroban.com or email info@pyroban.com.
