Superman’s Sarah Douglas and Christopher Backus Join Cast Of Indie Thriller ‘Displacement’Legendary actress Sarah Douglas & actor Christopher Backus have joined the cast of award-winning writer-director Kenneth Mader’s quantum time thriller 'Displacement', starring rising actress Courtney Hope as a young physics student Cassie Sinclair.
Mader wrote the screenplay and will direct, having spent the last 3 years developing the property at his Maderfilm Productions shingle in Burbank. This will mark his theatrical feature directing debut, after winning numerous awards with his screenplays and short films the last few years, most notably his showpiece Passing Darkness (Best Short Film at the Movienation Film Festival among others) and a history of directing his actors to award-winning performances. Production will begin this month as a short window of opportunity opened in Ms. Douglas' schedule, who is happy to be back in front of the camera after a short run in London at the Leicester square theatre in the Hallowe'en Sessions. Backus is coming off playing Marlene Dietrich in the indie film My Fair Lidy, now in post-production, and has been seen in Perception, The Mentalist and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. He is married to Oscar-Winning actress, Mira Sorvino. Ms. Hope recently guest-starred on NCIS: Los Angeles, Criminal Minds, and has appeared on other hit shows, as well as, starred in the horror/thriller Prowl, by After Dark Films and Lionsgate. The remainder of the cast will be announced soon. The film will be shot on the RED camera and posted at Maderfilm’s Nightfall Studios post division. A 2014 festival run will precede a theatrical release.
