He says of the widespread violence epidemic, “Not only is this an issue of violence, but it goes back to our laws and the need for change: http://youtu.be/ "Even though a background check is done on people purchasing gun it doesn't matter because people without criminal background are killing people too – with assault weapons. If you banned assault weapons people are going to obtained them illegally. On the other hand what about the weapons used for recreational deer hunting what are you going to do to them," says Jones. "The NRA (National Rifle Association) Under federal law, private individuals are not required to a conduct a background check before selling or transferring a firearm to someone who lives in the same state, but it is illegal and punishable by up to 10 years in prison for a private individual to sell or transfer a firearm while "knowing" or having "reasonable cause to believe" that the recipient falls into one of the prohibited categories above. "If people want to shoot, kill or hurt someone they will find a way. Case in point, a man was banned from a club during my years in college, but he still found a way to not only get in the club but he also brought a gun in the club and ended up shooting. When a person intends to harm another even with stricter guns laws implemented – one way or another they will find a way." Retired Lt. Jones further shares his position: "Even though I feel assault weapons should be outlawed if someone wants to inflict harm on a group of people they are going to find a way to do this even if they start using bombs to hurt people – that's the world we live in."
