FOURSQUARE OFFICIAL PARTY TO COMMEMORATE 4SQDAY GLOBALLY
WHAT:    San Antonio’s 2nd Annual Foursquare Day Event @Burger Spot Southtown
Join foursquare users around the world on 4/16, April 16th, to celebrate 4sqDay (4 squared = 16, hence 4/16)! You can participate in a local 4sqDay meetup event on 4/16 - just find your San Antonio foursquare community at http://www.meetup.com/foursquare/San-Antonio-TX/895752/
The Party begins at 6:00pm and goes on until 9:00pm. It will take place at the Burger Spot Southtown. Anyone is welcome to attend. All you need is a smart phone, the Foursquare application and a passion for exploration.
The idea behind this “party” is to collaborate with other like-minded social media users on a personal level, reinforcing the communities online, and meet face to face the online personas we see every day.
This is the second time San Antonio will be participating in a social networking event of this scale. Veronica Morales, (@TheSocialBeing), Founder & CEO of The Social Being: Online Marketing Firm has set up the initial meetup.com event. Participants must go to this website, find their city/town and then confirm to be signed up to attend. Once 50 or more participants have confirmed, the event will be sponsored by Foursquare. What is 4sqday? It is a grassroots movement that has officiated 4/16 as Official Foursquare Day. There are no rules, no memberships, but best of all no one is excluded.
Why is important for The City of San Antonio? Foursquare Day is an excellent opportunity for local businesses to shine for free! By making it official, Foursquare Day becomes relevant to all citizens of the cities that are holding Foursquare Day celebrations and also adds the weight of official support for to all the businesses who are participating.
