By: MTR Corporation It will all start today evening (22 March 2013) with the all-male British a cappella singers from “Out of the Blue” in action. The talented group of young musicians were a popular entry in the 2011 season of the popular TV series “Britain’s Got Talent”. They have since won worldwide acclaim for their lively and entertaining performances. They are also three-time a cappella champions of the UK. MTR passengers are invited to enjoy their breathtaking vocal prowess at the Central Subway of MTR Hong Kong Station. The phrase “a cappella” means “in the style of the chapel” in Italian and refers to solo or group singing without musical accompaniment or instrumental sound. Following hot on Out of the Blue’s heels, there are lots more reasons to head to Hong Kong Station in the weeks to come, with yet more stunning performances from Hong Kong’s leading exponents of this art form. Groups including Accompany A-Cappella, The Contemporary A Cappella Society of Hong Kong, Set Tone Man, Octave A Cappella Group and Zense a cappella are set to wow passengers of all ages every Friday evening from 29 March – 26 April 2013. (See appendix for details) “Art is an important part of the MTR system. Our different art initiatives aim to make our passengers’ daily journeys more meaningful and enjoyable.
