Riverside's All Saints' Carden Academy Impresses at RIMS Science Fair Debut with Gold Medalist Gupta

2013 RIMS Science Fair had an impressive debut showing by Riverside private school All Saints Carden Academy with all four participants winning medals and one student taking home gold, being elevated to the State Fair, and the National Broadcom fair.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - April 6, 2013 - PRLog -- “Thank you for your support and encouragement!”, All Saints' Carden Academy (ASCA) students exclaimed after all four of the competitors won medals at this week's 2013 RIMS Science Fair held at the Orange Show in San Bernardino.  With 917 competitors in three age categories, this was the largest RIMS event yet showcasing the best and brightest scientists of tomorrow from Riverside, Inyo, Mono, and San Bernardino counties.   ASCA students attend a private school in Riverside and participated in this regional fair for the first time this year.  A total of four students represented the school known to have a very strong academic focus.  The ASCA student's in the Junior category were identified as having “great confidence in communicating and  a strong ability to have ease” with their material.  Julie Hawk served as the school's science fair coordinator, and the director of the science department at the school, Martha Bandon, supervised the student's projects.  

To summarize ASCA's performance at the 2013 RIMS Science Fair, they had the following winners:
1. Peyton Varner with a Bronze medal in the Elementary category (grades 4-5);
2. Guinivere Kimber with a Bronze medal in the Elementary category (grades 4-5);
3. Victoria Wood with a Bronze medal in the Junior Category (grades 6-8);
4. Shayle Gupta with:
   a. The Gold medal in the Junior Category (grades 6-8);
   b. The Office of Naval Research Prize for Science and Engineering
   c. The Broadcom Masters outstanding performance certification (awarded to the top 10% of all science fair participants nationwide)
   d. Elevation to the California State Science Fair with 27 others from RIMS


ASCA (http://www.cardenacademyriverside.org/) now join's the ranks of the elite schools in this state sending candidates to the California State Science Fair next week on the University of Southern California campus.

The Broadcom Masters award is another feather in the cap of ASCA as it provides a $1000 award for the sponsoring school (and $250 to the sponsoring teacher), if Gupta advances to the semi-final level. The schools are furthered recognized at a White House ceremony in Washington this fall.
