Pharad Sees Customer Interest in Wildlife Tracking Applications with Wearable Antenna Technology

Pharad's wearable antennas are becoming popular with the animals. Our latest customer interest with our wearable antenna technology is in wildlife tracking applications.

HANOVER, Md. - April 12, 2013 - PRLog -- Since Pharad first developed its wearable antenna line in 2008, the company has seen a growing number of new applications for the radiators apart from the more conventional commercial and government customer base.  One such interest is the tagging, tracking and monitoring of animals in the wild.

The lightweight, unobtrusive, and waterproof design of the Pharad wearable antenna technology provides a more robust solution compared to whip or stub antennas for wildlife tracking applications.  For the tracking of animals, interest in Pharad’s wearable antenna technology for communicating the tag sensor data has ranged from Satellite Communication systems such as Iridium and Inmarsat to cellular frequency bands.

“I have to admit, when I was first told of the animal tracking application for our wearable radiators, I was a bit surprised,” said Pharad’s Chief Technology Officer, Dr Rod Waterhouse. “However when you think about it, it is very cool.  It’s not every day that we get to see our technology being used to help the planet.  The potential ecological benefits are enormous.”
