Fort Lauderdale Man Wins Big at the Big Dog Men's Invitational Golf Tournament

SAN FRANCISCO - April 13, 2013 - PRLog -- Ken Larson along with three members of his golf team competing for cash and prizes during the Big Dog Men's Invitational Golf Tournament hit the links at the Fort Lauderdale Country Club 11:30 a.m., April 8, 2013.

Gerald Weber, Chairman of the Board, Humane Society of Broward County, Actor Said Faraj, Melody Saleh, Big Dog Golf Tournament Chair, Cherie Marshall, Big Dog Golf Tournament Chair and Stefan du Bois, COO, Emerging Magazine gathered on the South Course to congratulate the foursome and hole-in-one winner Ken Larson.

Prior to the event, the foursome agreed should one of the team members win the $25,000 hole-in-one at the 12th hole; a 182 yard drive, they would split the prize money among themselves and donate an equal portion to the Humane Society of Broward County (http://www.humanebroward.com).

Those watching the hole began jumping up and down with excitement once the shot completed. One witness, Vicky Carter, described the momentous drive by saying, "Oh what fun!  It was really exciting watching the great shot hit the green and just keep rolling and rolling and then hit the bottom of the cup.  

Shirley Wolf and I both ran up on the green and watched it roll in and then screamed loud enough for the entire course to hear us."

Vicky continued, '"Ken is a really nice guy and I was very happy for him and really pleased about his generous donation to the animals."

Ken Larson is a member of the Coral Ridge Country Club (http://www.coralridgecc.com/) located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Certainly fellow members were thrilled to hear the news.

Ken's tournament team members consisted of Ian Seitel, Les Logan, and Graeme Pentland. When asked about Ken's win, he told Stefan du Bois he had been playing golf for fifty-seven (57) years and had never had such an experience.

The Fort Lauderdale Country Club hosted the successful inaugural event, benefiting the Humane Society of Broward County (http://www.humanebroward.com/), the model standard of all animal shelters and humane animal education centers across the United States.

The event took place on the south course, 19 male tournament teams entered the tournament. The event began with a chipping contest beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Raffles, live and silent auctions, other hole-in-one prizes, free vacations and several awards were presented during the fundraiser. Dinner was served at 6:00 p.m. during the awards ceremony.

Big 105.9 radio personality Dave Lamont emceed the awards and presentation ceremony. Actor Said Faraj, celebrity guest of Emerging Magazine and Humane Society supporter, along with Humane Society of Broward County Chariman of the Board, Gerald Weber spoke to those whom attended the awards ceremony and drawings.

Said Faraj drew winning raffle tickets, ticket-holders took away some great prizes. Mr. Gerald Weber congratulated Ken Larson and other winners, while praising the Big Dog Men's Invitational Golf Tournament Chairpersons, Melody Saleh and Cherie Marshall for a successful fundraiser for the animal shelter.

Aside from sponsoring the $25,000 cash hole-in-one prize, Emerging Magazine presented each tournament participant, guests and volunteers free vacation certificates.
