Follow on Google News | Benefiting Charities Is Second Nature for Stefan du Bois of Emerging MagazineCompassion for charitable causes stems from Stefan du Bois's childhood. Aside from his love for animals, his sibling was born with birth deficiencies as a result of the drug Thalidomide. His most recent golf event sponsorship awarded a $25,000 prize.
By: Emerging Magazine Long-time business associates and friends have called upon Emerging Magazine's chairman to assist with fundraising, promotion or event production to benefit worthy causes in cities across the United States, most recently; San Francisco, Los Angeles, Fort Lauderdale and New York. Emerging Magazine sponsored a $25,000 hole-in-one cash giveaway to benefit the Humane Society of Broward County. Golfer, Ken Larsen and 3 of his team members won the prize during the Big Dog Men's Golf Tournament held April 8, 2013 at the Fort Lauderdale Country Club. Organizers raised over $47,000 during its inaugural annual event. Ken Larsen won the $25,000 cash prize after sinking the 195 yard hole-in-one shot on the 19th green. Mr. Larsen admitted to Mr. du Bois "I have played golf for 52 years and have never hit a hole-in-one." Tournament players, Humane Society personnel and other onlookers applauded the successful shot, a few began leaping with joy. Mr. Larsen witnessed the gleeful party and their excitement, yet had no idea he had made the hole-in-one. Mr. Larsen and three members of his tournament team donated $5,000 of their winnings to the Humane Society of Broward County. On hand to congratulate the winner was actor, Said Faraj (Green Zone), a friend of Mr. du Bois and celebrity guest, whose appearance was also sponsored by Emerging Magazine. "We are offering a $1,000,000 hole-in-one grand prize for next year's event," Stefan du Bois announced in an effort to raise additional funds for the charity. "We are thrilled to be a small part of this wonderful cause," he continued. Stefan du Bois's dedication to animal and children causes originated from his own love for animals growing up and his personal experiences with his sibling. His sister was born with birth deficiencies as a result of the then prescribed drug, Thalidomide. During the late 1950's and early 1960's, the drug was prescribed by doctors to pregnant women in their first trimester to alleviate morning sickness and reduce nausea.
