A-List Education Professional Development Programs Proven to Raise Student SAT scores

April 23, 2013 - PRLog -- According to the College Board, the average student nationwide improves by only 55 points from PSAT to SAT, and even less between SAT test dates. Recently two Tri-State area high schools completed a review of SAT preparation classes using A-List materials and teachers trained by A-List. One of these schools, North Bergen High School in New Jersey, reported that student scores improved by an average of 170 points -- three times the National average. At Manhattan Hunter Science High School in New York, student scores improved an average of 117 points -- two times the National average, with students improving their scores by as much as 320 points. Improvements were calculated by comparing students’ preliminary scores on official College Board practice tests to scores on actual tests administered by the College Board.

A-List has trained teachers and staff in schools and community based organizations (CBOs) throughout the United States to run their own in-house SAT and ACT preparation programs. Hosting on-site test preparation courses has yielded remarkable results for A-List’s school and CBO partners; their students consistently outpace national averages for test score improvement by a factor of 3 or more. Traditionally, students seek costly third party instruction for SAT preparation leaving those with limited financial means at a distinct disadvantage.  A-List’s professional development programs help level the playing field by making SAT preparation available as a part of the school day. “Our Professional Development programs empower teachers to integrate test taking techniques and Common Core State Standards into the class room, which lead to higher student scores on the SAT and ACT and provide greater opportunities for college acceptance and merit based financial aid awards,” said Scott Farber, President and Co-founder of A-List.  “It’s our hope to bring this program to teachers across the nation and to increase their value in the classroom, for both schools and students.”
