Progressive Chevrolet Sponsors Massillon Youth Baseball Teams

MASSILLON, Ohio - May 13, 2013 - PRLog -- Progressive Chevrolet, with the help of Chevy Youth Sports, will once again be sponsoring a local youth sports league in the community.  Each season a different league is chosen.  This spring, Progressive Chevrolet will be sponsoring the Massillon Youth Baseball League.  This sponsorship program is one that Progressive Chevrolet has participated in multiple times before.  Providing these sponsorships has become one of Progressive Chevrolet’s favorite ways to get involved with the community.

Since 2010, Progressive Chevrolet has sponsored a number of youth baseball and soccer leagues in the area.  These teams include Jackson Fury Soccer League, Fairless Youth Baseball and Softball, Perry Youth Soccer, and North Canton Youth Baseball.  

As part of the sponsorship, Progressive Chevrolet provides a number of different supplies to their sponsored teams for their upcoming season.  As part of this year’s sponsorship for the Massillon Little League teams a total of 5 sets of catcher’s gear, 60 t-shirts, a $500.00 check, and opportunities to participate in a number of baseball clinics have been donated by Progressive Chevrolet. In addition, 2,000 fundraiser tickets were given to the league.  Members then sell these tickets to raise money for the league, as well as providing chances to win a new Chevy Equinox.  All proceeds from the ticket sales go directly back to the league.

The $500 check was presented on Monday, May 13th by Rob Emmert, Commercial and Fleet Manager for Progressive Auto Group.  Rob has spent a large part of his life playing baseball and is excited to participate.  Reflecting on the commitment needed to run these leagues, Rob says “The day I dropped off the gear and banners Lou Copeland and Brittany Harper were spending their time to get the fields ready.  There was a huge puddle behind the pitcher’s mound and they were putting dirt into the hole, and dragging the field.  It is awesome that we have people that are willing to sacrifice their time so kids can play a game.  Being able to support them is an amazingly gratifying thing.  I am blessed to be able to be a part of it, and it to me embodies what Massillon is all about.”

This is an ongoing program through Chevrolet that Progressive Chevrolet plans on participating in for a very long time!
