By: EWFA - European Window Film Association This case study shows the example of cruise line Royal Caribbean International and the works undertaken in its London headquarters to improve external appearance, increase security, and lower the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) costs. Looking for a solution to improve their overall energy efficiency, Royal Caribbean International chose to install 500m2 of solar control Window Film across the across the façade of their headquarters, resulting in a reduction in the HVAC costs of over 10% and payback of the upfront cost within only 3 years. Window Film technology suited Royal Caribbean International's needs for several reasons, explains Arnin Bothe, EWFA Board Member and Managing Director of Hanita Europe: "the installation is non-disruptive and can be done during normal work hours with no need to interrupt the building's normal operations; it provides substantial return on investment and a clear reduction of the energy bill. In addition, Window Film improved the comfort of the building's occupants and productivity thanks to more stable and pleasant temperatures and a proper control of glare. Window Film proved to be a very cost effective solution to Royal Caribbean International, so hopefully other corporations can follow their example and see how considerable improvements can be achieved thanks to this product."
