Creating Beauty within a 25' Radius

25 Foot Radius: A 365 Day Photo Blog. A unique photo every day.
SAN FRANCISCO - May 3, 2013 - PRLog -- How often do we embark on a focused journey through life and not notice all the beauty around us? The average person places him or herself on a regiment that helps them to form structure and organize their life better. Often bedtime, meals, waking times, and all the other errands thrown into the mix may obstruct one’s vision of the beauty around them.     Photographer Jon Rendell made a resolution on New Years Eve in 2012 to recognize the simple beauty that exists all around us. He created 25’ RADIUS, a daily online blog, posting a photo each day demonstrating this concept. 25’ RADIUS refers to the size of his apartment in San Francisco where all the photos are shot. Rendell says, “This project seeks to find inspiration in unexplored compositions and natural light – locally sourced fine art photography.”     Great photos are assured on a safari in the Serengeti; icebergs in the Antarctic; volcanoes in Iceland, the dry desolate landscapes of inland Australia; boating on a lake in Kashmir — but what if you were limited to a 25’ RADIUS; just a small apartment in San Francisco? Rendell says, “Who needs the Grand Canyon? If you look closely enough, you will find your subject right under your nose.” That’s the task photographer Rendell has given himself—a photo-a-day for 2013—all within his 1200 square foot apartment.    Born into an auteur/photog family in Melbourne, Australia, in 1957, Rendell grew up surrounded by cameras and film. In the mid 60s his father gave him the family Box Brownie. He was 8. In the 70s, 80s and 90s he progressed through a series of 35mm film cameras along with the associated traditional darkroom techniques.     Rendell honed his craft under renowned photographer Athol Shmith at what is now Swinburne University (Prahran Campus, Melbourne). Having discovered digital photography in 1997, he is now thoroughly ensconced in that medium and delights in all its possibilities. “I am captivated by light and shadows. I find myself hard wired to focusing on the transitory abstract shapes that come and go with the available light,” shared Rendell.    A series of Rendell’s work is currently on extended display at the San Francisco French Consulate. His photographs appear monthly in Scene4 Magazine http://bit.ly/deaddaffs and his work is in collections in Australia and North America.    For more information or to schedule an interview with photographer Jon Rendell please contact Mikael Wagner at 415.255.0800 or via email at info@promotionswest.com.    His blog, 25’ RADIUS is http://jonrendell.blogspot.com; his website is www.JonRendell.com, and you can ‘like’ his Facebook page here www.facebook.com/JonRendellPhotography
