Cast Announced for Herbert Bowens Jrs THE CAROUSEL

CLARKSTON, Ga. - May 14, 2013 - PRLog -- Joining the cast of Herbert Bowens Jr’s The Carousel a poetry based musical that explores what happens when you leave your longings unattended requires rhythm and flow, but finally after auditioning talented actors, singers and dancers throughout Metropolitan Atlanta the productions Summer 2013 cast has been finalized.

The cast includes an awesome mix of Broadway bound musicians and actors with credits including nationally touring productions and musical albums. The play also includes national poets Eddie Oliver and Leta Lagaunda and others soon to be announced. The play opens in the Orange Box Theatre at Mark SQuared on June 22 and 23 which will be followed by additional performances in downtown Atlanta in July. Tickets are on sale now! The Carousel is a poetry based musical stage play written, directed, and scored by Herbert Bowens Jr., a professional dancer and musician who has performed in popular full-length films "Drumline" and "Stomp the Yard", as well as Amateur Night at the Apollo and the TV musical variety series "Dance Fever".

“The Carousel” explores what happens when you leave your longings unattended. The story follows Cierra aka Sistah Girl’s quest to fine her creative voice.  Cierra – talented and creative - just can’t seem to live up to her full potential. The final draw comes when unable to complete an important task Cierra is transported to a magical place called The Carousel the place where unfulfilled dreams go. While exploring The Carousel Cierra meets Ma Stanza and the other inhabitants who teach her how to finish what she starts, to believe in her dreams and fight for her voice in the world. But before Cierra can return home she’ll have to outwit an entire poetry slam team with her poetry and rhyming skills in the battle of her life.

The Carousel is produced by Karlotta Washington of Mark SQuared Productions. The Carousel, Mark SQuared’s first stage production, supports  the company’s mission to tell stories that entertain, motivate and inspire. Ms. Washington explains, “We are UNboxing Creativity one phenomenal script at a time. Herbert’s sensational play The Carousel is colorful and thought provoking. It was the perfect project to start the journey. It touches you at your core and leaves you feeling a certain kind of way, hopeful, motivated and even a bit guilty.”
