Grand Opening: Studio 4, Old Town’s Newest Art Venue

Prolific art trio trade historic prison workhouse digs for new space at Crilley Warehouse.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - May 15, 2013 - PRLog -- Upon entering Studio 4, Old Town, located inside Crilley Warehouse, you will be greeted by three very distinctive styles of painting. While visually diverse, a strong connection through color and joyful approach is quite clear. The three artists are also united by an artistic mission. “We believe in art as a vehicle for social change.” Says MG. Cochran, Gascot and Stout are no strangers to creating in historic spaces, hailing from DC Reformatory-turned-arts center, The Workhouse in Lorton. In addition to their own works, Studio 4 will host guest artists, curate group exhibits and hold varied workshops.

Among the new art venue's first shows are 4 Equality: A Show of Pride, which explores issues of equality and diversity. It benefits Fairfax Pride. August's After the Parade, finds MG Stout painting a bridge between war-zone and homecoming and benefits the Wounded Warrior Project. In September The Neurodiversity Project takes center stage and showcases collaborations between professional artists and children on the autism spectrum.

A Grand Opening reception featuring recent works by Cochran, Gascot and Stout will be held at Studio 4, Old Town, 218 N. Lee Street, Suite 101, Alexandria on Saturday, July 13, 6-9pm. It is free and open to the public. Gallery Hours: Wed-Sat 11:00am-7:00pm and Sun 12:00pm-5:00pm. For directions, and updates please visit our website www.studio4oldtown.com
