Giving Back Must Gain Momentum

EAST LONDON, South Africa - May 16, 2013 - PRLog -- In a society that sees a vast number of South Africans grappling with poverty, unemployment and a growing historical trend of social inequality, it has become more imperative than ever for the spirit of ‘giving back’ to prevail to remedy these anomalies.

It is to this backdrop then that Momentum Group Sales Chief Executive Officer Dr Khanyile Nkuzuma urged more than 500 WSU education graduates in Butterworth to, from here onwards, advocate this ethos, for which many of the country’s communities thirst.

A proud son of the Eastern Cape, Nkuzuma, whose ladder to success rests solidly on grounds built on the principles of hard work and dedication, said graduates have an obligation to the nation to share knowledge and transfer skills within their various communities.

“As people, knowing poverty directly or indirectly, it is necessary to immediately get involved in assisting those who are not as fortunate as we are. Now that the doors have been opened for you, you have an obligation not to progress in life just for yourself, but also for those who have not had the options you had in life,” said an impassioned Nkuzuma.

As part of his duty to society, Nkuzuma said he mentors small and upcoming business in a Gauteng township free of charge. In the same breath, he urged the graduates to give back financially once they’re in a position to do so one day.

Nkuzuma also warned the graduates to guard against the fear of failure, a phobia he attributes to many people’s inability to fulfil their potential. He urged the graduates to tough it out even in the most trying of times, because this is where strength and character are built and born.

“You need to decrease your fear of failure by visualizing what you want to achieve, create options, a practical plan to take action and have social support around you,” he said.
