Contact information: New York, May 16, 2013 . BBLA Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of paintings and mixed media works by Czech-American, Seattle based artist and designer Milan Heger. The featured works reveal Heger’s explorations into the human inner-self, questioning individual’s decisions and actions as a result of self-preservation of one’s Ego. This is Heger’s first solo show in New York City. As painter and designer, Heger brings to his works an unbridled creative energy with total focus and passion that connotes all that is sensual. His work is ever fresh, visceral and complete unto itself. Milan Heger captures the essence, heart and soul in everything he creates. He brings new meaning to what is real and lasting in art. A Renaissance soul and visionary for the next trend, Milan Heger's creations reach out and touch viewers on emotional and subliminal levels, creating a lasting bond. Milan Heger: “Artists are often confronted with existential and theoretical challenges. For me, art revolves around a purpose, comment and legacy. Through my artwork, I strive to express my truth about the world that surrounds me - to have an X-ray vision through the layers of pretense and delusion; to be able to make art that shows an unsweetened reflection of the society, as if the artist is a mirror.” Milan Heger (b. 1959, former Czechoslovakia) In 1988 he was a visiting professor of art and architecture at the University of Hawaii. A year later he and his family returned to Czechoslovakia and participated in the change of the regime during the Velvet Revolution. Back in Hawaii he pursued his passion for art and design. He was invited to exhibit his artworks in galleries and public exhibitions in Hawaii, Canada, Japan and Europe. In 1997, Heger moved with his family to the Pacific Northwest where he continues to joyously create and exhibit his exuberant artworks. Milan Heger’s works have been exhibited extensively in more than 20 solo exhibitions and more than 30 group and invitational shows. His works received many awards and are in public and private collections, such as First Hawaiian Bank or Honolulu Advertiser, in France, Canada, Moscow, London or Japan. He is represented by Patricia Cameron Gallery in Seattle. *** Bohemian Benevolent and Literary Association (BBLA) is a not-for-profit organization established in 1891 in New York City as an umbrella organization for almost eighty Czech and Slovak immigrant organizations.
