“We have been committed since we started our business to giving back to the community by constantly working to protect public health and the environment,” “Having a recycling center available to citizens is another example of our being a good steward of the community and responsive to feedback from our customers,” he said. Nearly 60% TCW customers reside in Woodland Park. “More than 90% of our customers would support recycling if it was readily available,” according to TCW officials. As part of the request for annexation into the city of Woodland Park an application for a zoning change to Community Commercial (CC) has been filed by TCW. The request references several parcels of land generally located at 1000 and 1050 West Street (County Road 231) totaling 1.84 acres. Check out our video on youtube at http://www.youtube.com/ This proposed annexation is intended to “sustain Woodland Park’s economic diversity and vitality” by accommodating a critical service, according to the guiding principles of the Woodland Park Comprehensive Plan. In addition, this effort is consistent with the sustainability goals of the City, specifically Objective 1.2: Reduce Energy, Water and Resource Consumption, according to the zone change request justification that was submitted by TCW. The benefits of recycling include: · Recycling conserves resources · Recycling saves energy · Recycling helps protect the environment · Recycling reduces landfill. The recycling facility will allow for residents to drop off recyclables (i.e., paper, cardboard, glass, plastics and other acceptable materials) during certain hours of the day within the fenced and monitored operations area. TCW is willing to make appropriate aesthetic improvements including screening and landscaping on the property if the annexation is approved. “We will enhance the property and make it consistent with the standards of Woodland Park, “ Baker said. The benefits of the annexation are currently being reviewed by county and city officials with a decision expected during June 2013. Community citizens will have the opportunity to comment on the annexation in two June public hearings.
